The SD57 is a high-quality single cassette deck with
Dolby S noise reduction, which also features Dolby B
and C noise reduction. This makes it very flexible with
cassette tapes that may have been recorded with earlier
versions of the Dolby noise reduction system.
Dolby HX Pro allows for encoding of a clearer signal on
your cassette tape. Variable bias control allows manual
adjustment of the bias based on the tape type used, and
automatic bias calibration allows for automatic
calibration to match the recording process to the grade
of cassette tape used. Even within the same brand and
model of cassette tape, there may be inconsistancies in
the tape itself based on the lot of production. So, the
automatic bias calibration is a great way to ensure the
best recording possible.
Timer recording playback is possible with an external
timer (not supplied). A switchable multiplex (MPX) filter
is included which allows the user to include or defeat
this filter based on FM content. Peak level display
allows for fine tuning of the recording process to
maximize the reproduction accuracy. RC-5 remote
control inputs and outputs make this an easy
component to integrate into a Marantz system to utilize
the Marantz receiver's remote control for basic control
of the SD57. For more involved remote capabilities, a
specialized remote control is included with the SD57.
